At Boughton Health Centre, we welcome all young people. We will respect your privacy, dignity and religious or cultural beliefs.

Our doctors and nurses can give you help and advice about any worries you have about your health. Do not be afraid to ask!

Do we have your correct mobile phone number – We send out text reminders about appointments and we need to ensure these are being sent to the correct patient!.

We know it can be a bit scary talking to a doctor or nurse about your worries so here are some tips to help you.

  • If you feel nervous bring a friend or relative with you.
  • If you are worried you will forget something, write a list and bring it with you.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask the doctor/Nurse to explain anything you don’t understand.
GP of Your Choice

You can request to see either a male or female GP, you can always ask for a chaperone to accompany you. You can also bring a friend if you prefer.

Privacy

If you would like to talk to a receptionist in private, please ask you will be able to talk to her away from the reception area.

Online Access

Patients can apply for Patient Access from the age of 16 to book appointments and view their medical record.

Sexual Health

Our doctors and practice nurses provide contraceptive services by appointment.

If you require emergency contraception out of hours please contact your local pharmacy.

The hub centre for sexual health in Chester is at the Fountains Health Centre Sexual Health Clinic. They provide all aspects of sexual health screening, advice and treatment, condoms and contraception options.

This service is not just about contraception but is about how people look after themselves during their reproductive years, including pre- conception and menopausal care and sexual health.

We also offer opportunistic chlamydia screening for those aged 16-24 (kits available in our patient toilets or from reception).

A full range of services are provided including coils, implants, sexual health screening and advice regarding modern family planning techniques.

Please ask for details of emergency contraceptive services.

Confidentiality

We provide a confidential service to all of our patients, including young people under the age of 16.  This means that anything you discuss with any member of the Practice – doctors, nurses or receptionists – will remain private.

The only reason why we might have to consider passing on confidential information without your permission, would be to protect you or someone else from harm and we would discuss this with you first.

0-5 Years – Health Visiting Service

Community Nurses, Nursery Nurses and Health Visitors work with and support families during the crucial early years of a child’s life from birth to 5 years old, supporting you to ensure that your child is prepared and ready to start school and progress through the next phase of their childhood.

They offer…

  • Advice and support around emotions and mental health,
  • Advice around feeding, weaning and dental health,
  • One-to-one breastfeeding support,
  • Advice around  Child safety,
  • Addressing concerns you might have about sleep or behaviour,
  • Physical and developmental checks during your child’s first years
  • Support for specific issues such as postnatal depression, family stress and
  • Health Visitors work alongside School Nurses to ensure that the health needs of children and young people are met. If you have any concerns in relation to a child aged 5-19 years, please share this with your link Health Visitor who will liaise with the 5-19 Service.
